NAVSA/NACBS Early Career Network Collaboration

On November 12-15, 2026, both NAVSA and the North American Conference on British Studies (NACBS) will host our annual conferences in Pasadena, CA. The Early Career Network Collaboration (ECN) will bring together early career scholars from both organizations for several online networking and professionalization events in advance of the conferences, and will culminate with in-person, work-in-progress workshops and networking events at the conferences. Successful applicants will receive funding up to $1000 to cover travel and accommodations to attend the conference, and the conference fee will be waived. This program is supported by a grant from the American Council of Learned Societies Intention Foundry.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must have completed their PhD within the past five years
  • They cannot be employed in a tenure-track position
  • They must lack institutional financial support for their research
  • They must plan to attend the conference in person

To apply, please complete this online form by June 1, 2026.

Note: applicants do not need to be current members of NAVSA, nor must they have submitted a paper for the conference. However, unsuccessful applicants for the ECN who are NAVSA members and are presenting a paper at the conference will automatically be considered for a NAVSA conference grant and do not need to reapply.
