Victorians Journal invites submissions for their Winter, 2019 number, which celebrates significant figures and events in the long-nineteenth-century book-ended by 1819 and 1919. 2019 is the birth bicentenary of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Mary Ann Evans, and John Ruskin; it also marks the Peterloo Massacre at St. Peter’s Field, Manchester, a singularly brutal official response to reform-era concerns. 2019 also marks the centenary of a similarly brutal event, the Amritsar Massacre in India; the intensification of the Irish independence movement; the post-World War I flu pandemic; and the publication of Sassoon’s war poems. New work on these events and figures, with emphases on Victorian characteristics, qualities, influences, and concerns is welcome. Length: 7500 - 9000 words. Due date: July 1, 2019. Notification: August 1, 2019. Publication: December 2019. Please send queries to deborah.logan@wku.edu.
