Job Opening: Assistant Professor, Barnard College (10/15/2017)

Barnard College seeks an entry-level Assistant Professor specializing in nineteenth-century poetry and prose. They expect that candidates will have the PhD. in hand by the time of employment. The appointment is to begin on 1 July 2018.

Research and teaching interests in all areas of the field will be considered but they are especially interested in candidates who specialize in transatlantic studies; literature in the context of Britain’s global empire; writing by women; sexuality and gender; the physical culture of texts and related issues of reception; children’s and young adult literature; emerging trends in poetry, prose, and fiction; law and literature; literature and the history of science; nineteenth-century poetics including prosody and voicing; and other interdisciplinary scholarly and critical approaches that engage discourses of gender, race, and class. The strongest candidates will be prepared to teach the Junior Colloquium in the Enlightenment.
