This is an announcement of the call for papers for the Midwest Modern Language Association’s Travel Writing / Writing Travel panel. The conference this year will be in St. Louis, Missouri, 10-13 November, 2016. This year’s conference theme – “Border States” – provides the perfect topical launch for papers on travel, travel writing, and writing about travel. Papers on any aspect of this topic from any time period are welcome, including but not limited to the following ideas:
Of especial interest are papers that create their own border states between disciplines or genres.
Please send proposals of 500 words by 5 April, 2016 to erika.behrisch.elce@rmcc-cmrc.ca. If Travel Writing isn’t where you’re headed, there is also a robust nineteenth-century group that meets at the MMLA every year: English Literature II (1800-1900).
