Scholars and postgraduates working on print culture in its various forms are invited to attend the launch of the North West Print Culture Research Network, jointly hosted by Edge Hill University and Liverpool John Moores University, and in association with the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals. The event will be themed around illustration and will feature talks and a workshop on ‘Reading Victorian Periodical Illustration’.

Brian Maidment (LJMU): Reading Victorian Periodical Illustration: A Workshop.

The workshop will include a brief first view of the ‘Origins of the Popular Press’ website being developed at LJMU by Val Stevenson and Brian Maidment.

15:30-17:30

Lucy Kilfoyle (Liverpool): Launching into Cyberspace – Non-Digitised Periodicals: Raising Awareness and Sharing Insights.

Desdemona McCannon (MMU): History of Everyday Things in England: The Illustration of Mid-Twentieth-Century Social History Books.

Bob Nicholson (Edge Hill): Nineteenth-Century Nuts: The Anatomy of a Victorian Lads’ Mag.
