The Department wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Nineteenth-Century British Literature with a concentration in the post-1830 period. Applicants must be able to teach nineteenth-century literature but will also be expected to teach more widely in the field of English Literature, culture and theory. S/he is expected to be able to demonstrate excellence in research, and to participate in the organization of teaching and learning in the department. Preference may be shown to those that have interests in any of the following subfields: literature, science and technology; poetry and poetics; colonial and/or transnational literature; or are able to contribute to new initiatives in cross-disciplinary, cross-period studies in literature, media and technology. Candidates will be expected to show leadership and innovation in teaching and research. A record of work in public engagement and impact is also desirable. The post will be based at the Virginia Woolf Building, King’s Strand Campus. Interviews are to be held on 26 May 2015. Equality of opportunity is College policy.
