“Lippincott’s Legacy”
The University of Nebraska at Omaha is excited to sponsor a conference on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle and Oscar Wilde, particularly The Sign of the Four and The Picture of Dorian Gray. Both works were commissioned in August 1889 and both were published in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890. Thus, the conference will celebrate the 125th anniversary of their publications. This is an interdisciplinary conference that seeks participation from researchers and academicians in English, History, Communication, TV-Film, Gender Studies, and other disciplines. The topics are limited only by the interests and creativity of the authors.
Papers are sought in two tracks:
- competitive
- developmental for authors who seek guidance from peers to develop their papers
Competitive papers accepted for the Conference will be published in the Lippincott's Legacy Proceedings. The publication will be designed to recreate an issue of Lippincott's Monthly Magazine as it appeared in 1890.
