“New Directions in Dickens Scholarship” (Sponsored by the Dickens Society)
Chair: Sara Malton
2012 saw the bicentenary of Charles Dickens’s birth, an event marked by commemorative activities and celebratory events across the globe. Where do Dickens studies go from here? This panel invites abstracts for papers that consider new directions in Dickens scholarship. Papers are welcome to interpret ‘directions’ broadly, considering, for instance, issues of space and travel; futurity, time, and change; global intersections in Dickens’s works; or matters of event, monument, and commemoration. Please submit 300 word abstracts.
